Our
Bible lessons are about Christ and His Church. We study
the Life of Christ, the book of Acts and missions.
In Social Studies along with learning about famous men and
women in American history, we discuss the character
building qualities in their lives that helped them make
America great. We relate these principles to our lives. In
our Native American Unit, we learn about tribes from
different parts of North America. Two computer programs
make it possible for use to make dioramas and villages
based on what we learn about Colonial Days and Native
Americans.
Accelerated Math is used so each child can work at this
own ability. Learning multiplication and division facts
are a new challenge for this grade. Decimals are also
introduced for the first time.
In reading we will be using a new phonics book. Along with
reading Accelerated Reader books, we will be reading books
together as a class. Some of these books also have
Literacy Skill tests that the children take which helps to
develop more in-depth comprehension skills.
Our new Science curriculum will allow for more activities
not just reading about science. A subject all children
enjoy is animals.
Field trips this year were a Fall Harvest Tour at Amish
Acres, the Shriner’s Circus, and the Children’s Museum
in Indianapolis.
