Miss Bowdler's 5th grade Fifth grade is a fantastic year at WCS! Throughout the year students learn about exciting new subjects and participate in many special events. First, the students learn a lot in 5th grade. In Bible class we study the Old Testament and in history we cover United States history. In math the students learn geometry, fractions, decimals, and much more. Students learn about mammals, light, engines, weather, and space in science class. Reading is enjoyable as students read stories together and by themselves as part of the Accelerated Reader program. Students also continue to perfect their writing skills through English class and various writing projects. Also in 5th grade students have the opportunity to participate in extra activities. Students can join the choir or band. They can also join the after school sports program and compete in volleyball, soccer, or basketball. Every student prepares for the ACSI speech meet competition, and we present a special chapel for the rest of the school as well. As you can see, there is always something exciting happening in fifth grade. By the end of the year students have truly grown academically and spiritually.
